Take it Easy and Take a Bubble Bath
“Rubber Duckie, you’re the one! You make bathtime lots of fun. Rubber Duckie, I’m awfully fond of you!” Do any Smiley Central readers remember the great Rubber Duckie song from back in the day? As kids, we always looked forward to bath time because we got to play with all kinds of fun toys (rubber ducks included). Now days, it seems like we’re always in a rush while we’re getting ready for work and never get to take a nice, relaxing bubble bath. So we created a great new smiley to remind everyone to slow down, take it easy, and take a bubble bath every once in a while. Because no matter how old you get, bubble baths are always awesome. Keep Smiling Throughout The New Year
Welcome to 2012, everyone! Boy, we’ve been having a tough time getting use to the new date here at Smiley Central. Every day there are emails flying around asking about meetings for January 2011. Like, aren’t we a little late for that meeting?! Every year it seems like we’re stuck writing the wrong date until at least February. Anyway, we hope you all had a safe and happy New Year’s! There’s something really great about a new year, isn’t it? New year, new resolutions, new you. New Year’s resolutions run rampant during the first months of the year, and then begin to taper off. For 2012, the Smiley Central office resolution is to keep bringing you the best smileys out there and keep our readers happy all the way until 2013! Is your resolution to be a happier person? Download Smiley Central so you can create thousands of smileys to keep you going while you work through those tough resolutions!

Forget the Family Pic and Send Cards with MyFunCards.com
Oh BOY are we stuffed! Yes, it is exactly a week after Thanksgiving and there are still leftovers in the Smiley Central fridge. It’s better to be over-prepared than under-prepared we always say. Plus, there is no other holiday where it’s totally ok to gorge yourself on food and watch football, so we’re going to make it last as long as possible. Right? Anyone else out there still celebrating Thanksgiving?
Since it is December, maybe it’s time we toss out the rest of that turkey and starting focusing on the holidays. One of the first things we do each holiday season is sending out the official Smiley Central holiday card. It’s usually a picture of our whole office dressed up in the silliest (and tackiest) of holiday attire, but this year… we just couldn’t get everyone together. So instead, we’re using the crazy-easy MyFunCards.com to send our greetings to our friends and associates. The cards are so easy to make and send and they’re all super fun. Having trouble getting your family or friends together for the official holiday pic like this little photography smiley below? Here’s some advice from Smiley Central: Forget it and head over to MyFunCards today!

Mixed Feelings: Smiley Central ® Heads Back To School
Have you been searching for the perfect way to show your friends how you feel about starting another school year? Well at Smiley Central, we searched high and low in our stock of thousands of smileys to find one that personifies the mix of excitement and fear that accompanies the start of a new year. Without further ado, here’s what we’ve nicknamed the “End of August, Back to School Smiley”:
Isn’t it perfect? Going back to school is definitely scary, especially that moment you realize you forgot EVERYTHING you learned last year! Plus, you have to deal with new teachers, a new schedule and harder classes, tests and papers. There’s also the pressure to plan out your entire life – how can people ask you what you want to be doing in five years if you’re not even sure what you’ll have for lunch?! Of course, not everything about starting school again is terrible. Usually, you head to school with fresh supplies and an even fresher wardrobe. And if they’re going to force you to sit in a building for nine hours a day, at least you get to spend it with your best friends, right? If you’re an athlete, you have the new season to look forward to – we bet it will be your best season yet! Now that you’ve thought about it more, isn’t this smiley perfect? To send it to your friends, just download the Smiley Central App for your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and start sharing today! We have a feeling your friends will agree that this Back to School Smiley is the best one out there!

HeartYou Winners Will Be Seeing Green
We hope everyone took our advice last week and entered the Webfetti HeartYou App contest. For those who missed it, we challenged our loyal readers to come up with the most creative name for one of the three HeartYou Monsters. We gave readers all the details for the contest, which you can read more about here, except for one big component: THE PRIZE! If you didn’t submit your names in time (the contest ended August 6), you’re going to be pretty upset because the prize is awesome! We can’t keep it a secret any longer –the grand prize for the HeartYou ‘Name That Heart’ contest is from none other than one of the most famous jewelry stores around — Tiffany! Other prizes are collectively valued at over $200. Who couldn’t use an extra $200, right? I bet those of you who didn’t enter the HeartYou contest are really kicking yourselves right now. And for those who did enter, you don’t have to wait much longer. Winners will be announced this Wednesday, August 10. So hold your horses for just a little while longer and you could be like this smiley with dollar bills in his eyes. Good luck to everyone that entered!!

Smiley Central ® Says Konnichiwa
When the temperature outside is so oppressive, it’s time to take your workout indoors. One of the best ways to strengthen and tone your body is the ancient art of karate. Martial arts have been around since the 1300s, but karate as we know it today didn’t fully emerge in Japan until the 1900s. After World War II, American soldiers studied the art of karate in Japan and brought it over to the United States. The first dojo opened in the U.S. in Phoenix, Arizona in 1945. How much do you know about karate? Below are some often-confused terms associated with the sport.
Dojo – The name for a karate school. Dojo is translated literally to mean “place of the way” or “place of enlightenment.”
Shomen – The front of a Dojo. Karate etiquette requires that one bow in the direction of the shomen when entering and exiting the school.
Hanshi – A name given to a karate master or an honorary title given to the highest Black Belt.
Gi -The uniform worn during karate and other martial arts; white pants and a jacket secured with a cloth belt denoting skill level.
Kata -A sequence of movements, both defensive and offensive, performed alone against imaginary opponents.Whether you’re a karate black belt or just a fan of old Jackie Chan movies, visit Smiley Central to download the latest karate smiley!

Wearing Sunscreen Will Keep You Smiling All Summer
A lot of people have been complaining about the heat in our town this summer and some have even started wishing for fall. You won’t hear anyone at Smiley Central complaining though, we love summer and spending as much time as possible outside. Did you know that 20 minutes of time outside gives you a healthy dose of Vitamin D? One thing that a lot of people forget to do when spending time outside is to apply sunscreen — and a lot of people that do remember to wear sunscreen aren’t doing it correctly!
If you know you’re going to be spending time in the sun, you should apply sunscreen to 15 – 30 minutes before going outside. Make sure to cover all areas that will be exposed to the sun – and don’t forget places like your ears, hands and tops of your feet! And apply liberally; most people only apply 25 – 50 percent of the recommended amount. Doctors recommend that you use one ounce of sunscreen to adequately cover all areas exposed to the sun – that’s about the size of a shot glass. Once you’re outside, you should reapply your sunscreen every two hours. You should also reapply after you go swimming or if you’ve been sweating a lot.
Summer time is so much fun, but you’ll definitely be smiling more if you’re not sunburned. We sure hope this snoozing smiley remembered to slather on the SPF before napping in the sun!

Just Hanging Out with Smiley Central®
Happy Tuesday, everyone! Doesn’t it feel great to have a short work week? Only four days and then we’re on to the next weekend – awesome! The reason for the shortened week, of course, was the big holiday. Yesterday, the ol’ U. S. of A. celebrated its 235th birthday! A favorite holiday for a lot of us at Smiley Central, the 4th combines all of our favorite things about summer: cookouts, vacations, fireworks and America. What’s your favorite part about the holiday? Honestly, sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and relax, like this cool smiley in a hammock. Spending the afternoon swinging in a hammock may be one of the best things in life. All you need is a good book, a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and a spot of shade. Better yet, take your iPhone along to keep you company and you can send this and other summer smileys from the Smiley Central app to all your friends!!

Summer has Started at Smiley Central®
Hey everyone – it’s officially summer! At Smiley Central®, we spent the entire day wishing we were at the pool. If you close your eyes I’m sure you can imagine it, too… Pavement so hot it burns your feet, waiting your turn at the diving board and having your friends rate your totally awesome cannonball, taking a break from swimming and getting a popsicle from the snack stand and of course, pool games!
Thinking about summer days at the pool got us talking about our favorite pool games from when we were younger. Of course the girls all said they liked to play “Tea Party” where everyone sat cross legged under water and pretended to have a princess tea party at the bottom of the pool. Other people said they loved diving for pennies or other toys at the bottom of the pool or seeing who could hold their breath the longest. Several Smiley Central® folks claimed they were the world champions at underwater handstands.
Here are instructions for our favorite pool game ever: Underwater Freeze Tag (better to play when there’s a large group of people)! Confine all Underwater Freeze Tag players to the shallow end of the pool and choose one person to be “it.” The person who’s “it” will swim or move around the shallow end and try to tag other players. If a player is tagged by the person playing “it,” they must immediately freeze and clasp their hands in the air above their head. This lets other players know that they have been tagged. A frozen player can only be unfrozen if another unfrozen player goes underwater and swims through the frozen player’s legs. Then, the previously frozen player may move around the shallow end once again, trying to stay out of the way of “it.” Every few minutes, choose another person to be “it”!
What are some of your favorite pool games? Let us know below!

Sweet Summertime
Tomorrow is the first day of summer and we couldn’t be more excited! Is there anything better than two months of sunshine and fun (and for some of you, no school)? We didn’t think so. For those of you heading to the beach this summer, we know you’re already dreaming about the surf, sandcastles and sunshine. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Even if you’re not heading to the beach, signs of summer are popping up everywhere: people are grilling out, school is over, the ice cream truck is making its rounds and the local pool is finally open. All these signs of summer have the Smiley Central staff smiling from ear to ear. Want to share some summer fun with your friends? Check out our summer Smileys over at Webfetti and download our special Summer Pack for your iPhone. Just don’t wait too long, summer will be over before you know it!
